Custom styles can help organize specific symbols and common mapping requirements within an organization or for a particular project.
How to create or customize your map style:
ArcMap 9.3.1 and earlier versions:
• Click Tools > Styles > Style Manager
ArcMap 10.x:
• Click Customize > Style Manager
Click the Styles button on the right side of the Style Manager dialog.
ArcMap 9.3.1 and earlier versions:
• Select ‘Create New’ from the Styles drop-down menu.
ArcMap 10.x:
• Click the “Create New Style” button in the Style Reference dialog.
The new style will be saved in the user profile folder under ArcMap.
Enter a name for the new style in the Save As dialog and click Save.
Once the new style is created, new symbols
can be added to the available categories . For new polygon symbols, create them in the FILL SYMBOLS folder; for scale bars, use the SCALE BARS folder; for polylines, use LINE SYMBOLS, and so on. Remember to save your changes.The new style can be shared with other users by copying the style file to another computer.
